Living Devotion and the Whole Desire of God

After only a few paragraphs of the main body, I started to cry. Yes, at last - thank-you God – you know me and have heard my heart silently cry out for such a book to be written. The experience felt like Robert Spriddell had written the book in response to present wrestling's in my Christian walk. Whilst other books can 'uplift' they assume you are in the right place to receive the streams of consciousness as a perfect and hungry Christian just persistently jogging through Eden prior to 'the fall.' However, this book, did so much more than that! He has beautifully scripted ways Christians need reminding to internalise basic truths and position themselves in relation to God and stand strong. I have found that without this interior discipline that I can get lost either in the constant intellectualising (going too deep) or rapidly skimming in streams of consciousness (going too shallow) as I navigate through time.
There are few Christian authors who take up the challenge of writing 'next step' discipleship for war wounded Christian's who have been around for a few years who need reminding of fundamental truths we need to stand on (as children of God). This book speaks deeply as to how we might recover. This is definitely a 'how to' book in terms of learning to foster a deeper devotional relationship with God.
