About us

Zion Baptist Church Book Club

ZBC Book Club is a new stream of activity  within Zion Baptist Church, Cambridge.

Our goal is to provide a welcoming and inclusive space for members to engage in meaningful discussions and explore Christian literature.

Our reading club is open to all individuals who share a passion for reading and want to deepen their understanding of the Christian faith.

We strive to create a supportive and nurturing community where individuals can connect with others and build lasting relationships.

Rev. Jason De-Vaux

Jason is married with children and ministers from Zion Baptist Church and is also a Padre with the Royal Army Chaplaincy Department working with AFC and Veterans. He has also been on the mission field in Asia and is a published musician and writer.

Connecting through Christian literature

(Rev.) Jason (who prefers to be called Jason) is passionate about supporting individuals from different walks of life and recognises when we come together it promotes growth, creativity, and community. Within the Christian community each person has a special gifting that should be encouraged to develop primarily to strengthen our individual faith. It is therefore important to explore new opportunities together to deepen our faith, grow and learn from each other and strengthening church ties with our broader church family.

Connecting faith with literature, Jason has recently authored and published 'God is a Timelord.' His book is eager to share testimony to Jesus and the power of the Holy Spirit showing ways our paths converge with others at certain God-incidence time frames as they were frequently shown to do in the bible.

Evolving through our encounters with God allows us to recognise that transformation isn't merely a personal experience: it is a shared reality that enhances the very essence of community (De-Vaux, J. 2025)

Elaborating further he says shared experience within the church community is where individual timelines diverge and contribute to the unfolding story of faith. It is through the seizing of opportunities in-action that we propel our metaphorical wings in the wind of a timeless faith relationship with God. Importantly, these types of experiences bring us closer to God and can become a catalyst for transformation.

Connecting faith with literature is one such way we can be inspired and hear the gentle nudging of the holy Spirit to steer our path

Recent Book Launch - A tale of two authors

At the end of the summer Zion Baptist held a book launch featuring (Rev.) Jason De-Vaux  and Robert Spriddell. This was held in Molly's Cafe in the reception area of Zion Baptist where wonderful barista coffee and homemade cake were freely flowing much to everyone's delight.

This area is a 'loved' space by many people coming through the door in the week. On book launch day eager book lovers chatted with each other who were very curious about the new titles on our home block here in Cambridge! Whilst the authors signed copies for guests they also wrote a personal message inside the front cover and words of encouragement. This was a great experience for everyone who had come to show their support. This led to a more detailed discussion with Q&A inside the church chapel. Both authors spoke briefly about the content of their book and why  readers may find their insights useful. Both have scripted their writings with a heart of Christian love for us all.

Next up is the book club launch 17th October@11am
